Intermediate Bearcats take two from Schooners

TRURO, N.S. – The D & D Bookkeeping Truro Bearcats swept a doubleheader from the Sherose Island Schooners in recent Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League action.

The Bearcats won the opener 6-3 and took the second contest 2-0.

In Game 1, Bearcats pitcher Logan Dowe scattered five hits and struck out 10 to earn the win.

Tony Stewart went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in a run, while Joe MacPherson and Chris Priest each added two hits and an RBI.

The Bearcats trailed 3-2 after six innings, but scored five times in the top of the seventh for the victory.

In Game 2, winning pitcher Chris Richards allowed just five hits and struck out five in a complete-game effort.

Stewart delivered three hits for the Bearcats, while Priest and Matt LeBlanc each added one.

Truro scored single runs in each of the first and fifth innings.

The Bearcats next action is Sunday when they host the Noel Road Jays for a doubleheader at the TAAC Grounds, beginning at 1 p.m.
