TRURO, N.S. – It’s been a long time coming, but the Truro D&D Bookkeeping Bearcats will finally play baseball at the TAAC Grounds.
The Bearcats will host the first-place Windsor Knights on Sunday in a Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League doubleheader, scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
The Bearcats started the season with eight road games and have a 3-5 record to show for it.
Truro enters Sunday action after a doubleheader sweep of the Pictou County Albions last Sunday in Stellarton.
Truro 9, Pictou County 2
The Bearcats set an early tone with a five-run first inning and never looked back.
Jason Smith and Chris Richards led the charge with three hits apiece, while Alex Phillips added a hit and drove in two runs and Matt Mingo doubled.
From the mound, Smith allowed just five hits in a complete-game effort.
Truro 7, Pictou County 4
Much like the first game, the Bearcats broke it open early, scoring a single run in the first inning and adding five in the second to put the hosts on their heels.
Mingo stroked two hits, had two RBI, scored two runs and stole a base to lead Truro. He was also credited with the win after 3 2/3 innings of work.
