TRURO, N.S. – The D&D Bookkeeping Truro Bearcats jumped on the Noel Road Jays early and went on to a 7-4 win in Game 2 of a Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League doubleheader on Sunday.

The Bearcats scored four runs in the home half of the first inning to set the tone for the contest. Joe MacPherson led the way at the plate with three hits, including a homer, two runs and three RBIs. Tony Stewart added three hits and scored twice, while Dan Chisholm and Logan Dowe had two hits apiece. Nate McCulloch went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Jays.

Chris Richards pitched a complete game victory. He gave up nine hits.

The Jays won the opener 9-6. Kenny Miller and Pat Benedict each drove in two runs for the visitors. Scott Baillie and Justin Ferguson each delivered a pair of hits for the Bearcats and MacPherson doubled.

Justin Campbell was the winning pitcher, while Brady Davis suffered the loss.

The Bearcats (8-8) return to action on July 29 when they visit the Windsor Knights for a doubleheader.
