Bearcats shade Braves in intermediate baseball

TRURO, N.S. – The D & D Bookkeeping Truro Bearcats posted a narrow 8-7 victory over the visiting Kennetcook Braves Thursday night in Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League play.

The Bearcats gave up a base-clearing double with the bases loaded in the early going but managed to play the Braves tough and held on for victory.

Brady Davis led the way for the Bearcats with three hits and four RBI, while Joe MacPherson had three hits, including a homer. Tony Stewart and Justin Ferguson each added a pair of hits.

Logan Dowe, in relief of Brandon Greeno, was the winning pitcher.

Based on points, the win Thursday boosted the Bearcats’ record to 8 wins against 11 losses for 35 points, good for fifth in the eight-team loop.

Noel Road Jays (15-3-48) continues to lead in the standings heading into weekend play. They were followed by Hantsport Shamrocks (12-4-40); Windsor Knights (9-10-37); Pictou County Albions (8-12-36) and the Bearcats.

Rounding out the league standings are Sherose Island Schooners (9-7-34); Pictou County Royals (6-10-28); and the Braves (4-14-26).
