TRURO, N.S. – Quinn Cashen and Chad Mingo were tough on the mound in leading the Truro Bearcats to a 3-1 victory over the Prospect Privateers in the final of a midget A baseball tournament held last weekend in Truro.
Cashen started and gave the Bearcats four strong innings, while Mingo pitched the final three. The duo combined to strike out 10 batters.
Max Ashton knocked out a couple of singles in the final, while Bailey MacKinnon, Michael Jollimore, Marshal Field, Luke Creelman, Will MacGillivray and Mingo had other hits.
The Bearcats went undefeated in the tournament with a 3-0 record. They beat the Sackville Rangers 13-3 and Lake Echo Lakers 7-4.
Truro’s overall record this season is 12-4-2. The Bearcats return to action on Friday when they host the Liverpool Privateers at the Stadium Diamond at 6:30 p.m.
