Bearcats baseball team searching for first win

TRURO, N.S. – The Truro Bearcats will try to break into the win column Fridayin the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League.

The Bearcats host the Kentville Wildcats for a 7:30 p.m. start at the TAAC Grounds.

Truro is winless in seven games to start the season. Kentville has a 1-3 record.

Truro enters tonight’s game after a 9-7 road loss Tuesday to the Halifax Pelham Canadians.

Brandon Devlin led the Canadians with two hits and two RBI, while Jake Pelham doubled and drove in two runs.

Dan Bates and Adam Lombard had two hits and two RBI for the Bearcats and John Chapman had a double and two singles.

Brett McGinnis was the winning pitcher and Matt Mingo suffered the loss.

Halifax led 8-2, before Truro made a game of it with a four-run seventh inning.
