Maryann Wilson (Delaney)

WILSON (Delaney), Maryann Truro It is with great sadness that we inform you that Maryann, 84, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with family by her side. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Florence (Crowe) Delaney. She quit school after grade four to help her mother look after the household. In her youth she worked at Charlie Lewis’ Textile Factory on Wood Street with her brothers, Dexter and Robert; sister, Lila; as well as cousins, Lil and Marge. She also worked at Scotia Hotel with her sister, Lila. After marriage Maryann devoted her time to looking after her three boys and the household; we always knew how much we were loved by how she had dedicated her life to us. The doctor at the hospital recently asked her what she liked to do for herself and she didn’t have an answer for him because everything she ever did was for her family and others; the only thing she ever did for herself was the last thing she did in this life and that was to choose a medically assisted death. The family is very sad but happy that she is at peace and no longer suffering. Maryann is survived by her sons, Bill, Brian, Tim; grandsons, Ryan and Logan; brother, Curtis. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fraser Wilson; brothers, Dexter, Robert, Thomas; sisters, Lila (Delaney) Lynk and Elizabeth in infancy. Private interment was held in Onslow Island Cemetery, Central Onslow. If so desired, donations in Maryann’s memory to Diabetes Canada are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Maryann’s obituary on-line and selecting “Send A Condolence” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
