Joseph Delbert Comeau, 87, Brookfield, died peacefully on March 1, 2018 surrounded by his family. Delbert was born on October 9th, 1930 son of Marguerite and Arcade Comeau. Delbert grew up in Comeauville where he learned carpentry at his father's mill. He moved to Halifax in his mid-twenties to further establish his career in carpentry. He worked in that trade for several years. He married Margaret Courtney in 1965 and started a family. Soon after he was called upon to work in her family business London Rubber Stamp. He ran the business until his retirement in the year 2000. Years after the death of Margaret, a lovely lady from the Brookfield post office caught Delbert's eye. He married Shirley Ross in 2002 who filled the rest of his days with love and companionship. Delbert is survived by his wife Shirley Comeau, sons - Joseph (Lorena), Bill (Mary), Ray (Jen), daughters - Marie (Mark) Young, Donna Comeau, step-sons - Terry (Maureen Foster) Stewart, Glen (Susan Hamilton) Stewart, Greg Stewart, step-daughters - Brenda (Mike) Henderson, Patty (Rob Smith) Stewart; 15 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters - Odile (Cyril) Courtney, Rose (Paul) Napier, Leona (Ralph) Carroll, sister-in-law Mariette Comeau, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Delbert was predeceased by late wife Margaret Comeau, siblings - Remi, Raymond, Virginia, and Ralph. Delbert will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 6th at 10 am at Knox United Church, Brookfield with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home.
