PRATT, John Derrick 57, New Annan It is with great sadness that the family of Derrick Pratt announce the unexpected sudden passing at his home on January 9, 2020. Born on November 16, 1962, in Truro, he was the son of John “Jackie” and Beatrice “Betty” (Wellwood) Pratt. A loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend—Derrick loved his family dearly, especially his wife, daughter, and Bodine. He was an incredibly proud father of his only daughter. He is survived by his wife of 28 years of marriage and 31 years together, Stacey (Rayment) Pratt; daughter, Jade (Todd) McLellan, Onslow; mother, Beatrice “Betty” (Wellwood) and father, John “Jackie” Pratt, Manganese Mines; brother, Darrell Pratt, Manganese Mines; sisters, Dianne Pratt (Mark Noble), Stoney Plain, Alberta, Deborah (Ian) Flewelling, Leduc Alberta and Danielle Pratt (Steven Isenor), Stewiacke; mother-in-law, Eva (Rushton) and father-in-law Ken Rayment, Woodstock, Ontario; brothers-in-law, Karl Rayment, Victoria, British Columbia, Shawn Rayment, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Ian Rayment, Ottawa, Ontario; aunts, cousins and many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending his days doing what he was passionate about, his hobby farm with his horses, other animals and his best pal Bodine. Derrick loved animals, especially horses. His other passions included his love for collecting antiques and spending his time outdoors in nature. His favourite time of year was Christmas, he loved Christmas and every aspect to it, especially spending time with his family and friends, and getting to eat too many sweets. Derrick was a beautiful man inside and out. He had a kind and generous heart, helping ANYONE who needed him—he loved helping people. He had the biggest and most kind soul in the world and made everyone around him feel special. Derrick also loved entertaining and making people laugh with his practical jokes, stories and pranks. Cremation has taken place under the care of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. There will be no visitation. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Tatamagouche Legion, 80 Queen St, Tatamagouche, 2 – 4 p.m. No flowers upon the family’s request. Donations in Derrick’s memory may be made to the Rocking Horse Ranch – Animal Rescue.1554 Baddeck, Nova Scotia, B0K 1B0.
