Hazel Agnes Yorke

YORKE, Hazel Agnes – 81, New Glasgow. It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, Hazel, on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in West New Annan, she was a daughter of the late George and Lena (Langille) Warwick and was predeceased by her husband, Keith Elwood Yorke and brother, Laurie Warwick. Over the years, Hazel worked at various businesses where she enjoyed working with the public. She enjoyed sewing, but her greatest past-time was of course knitting, and she made many pairs of mittens for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hazel is survived by her sons, Roger (Brenda), Tatamagouche; Wayne (Irma), Truro; Kevin (Krista), Hantsport; Barry (Pat), Barrhead, Alberta; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Georgie (Don) White, Belmont. Hazel was also predeceased by her long-time partner, Kenneth Tugwell; his son, Keith Tugwell, and is survived by Kenneth’s son, Ross (Karen) Tugwell, New Glasgow; daughter, Lynne (Joe) Dipersio, Westville and their children and grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Hazel’s family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m., Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Bell Gift Cemetery, West New Annan. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Hazel’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
