Georgina Edith Currie

Georgina Edith Currie – Truro. Our family Matriarch has died at the age of 77 years, leaving this world to be with her beloved husband, George, who predeceased her in 1992. Mom was the daughter of the late Latitia (Eagles) MacNeil and Carson MacNeil. Mom had a true love for her family and was happiest when her family was around. For many years Mom was a homemaker, caregiver and babysitter. She enjoyed baking, going to dances and most of all, playing BINGO! Her loving children and their families will carry many happy memories of her forever and always. Surviving are her daughters, Glenda, Kay (Richard), Florence (Roy), Star (Wayne), Trina (Daton), Amanda (Sterling); sons, Jesse (Janet), George, Greg (Sherry); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her great granddaughters, Bleu and Scarlett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, where Georgina’s family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., today, Thursday, August 9, 2018. Private family interment will be held in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village, at a later time, with Pastor Ruth Tonn officiating. Mom would be honored if you did a good deed for someone less fortunate, as she truly believed no matter how hard we might’ve had it, there was always someone else who had it harder. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgina’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice are welcomed. The family wishes to thank some very special people who played a big role in Mom’s life and care during her illness: special cousin who was more like a sister, Shirley Ryan and cousin, Ralph Turner; Dr. Robert Graham, Dr. Beau Blois, Dr. David Henderson, Angela MacDonnell RN, Palliative Care Team, VON home support, Betty Brown and all her special friends at Johnson Manor, Truro, and special thanks also to Bruce Varner; your compassion to our family will be forever appreciated. Thank you does not seem like enough, but each moment all of you were in her life truly touched all of us as well. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Georgina’s obituary on-line and selecting “Send A Condolence” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
