Carol Evelyn Matthews (Morrisey) - Hilden It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Matthews on Thursday, April 19 th in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Gwendolyn (Gwen) and Hughie Morrisey; brothers-in-law, Artie Johnson and Charlie Blaikie and her niece, Cindy Shay (Blaikie). Carol is survived by her only child Michael; daughter-in-law, Marlene and grand-daughter, Alexandria (fiancé, Kevin Connolly). She also leaves behind her sisters Yvonne Watson (Laurie), Elda Johnson and Joyce Blaikie; nieces, Cathy, Cheryl and Julie (Terry) and nephew, Dan (Rhonda); ‘Very Special Aunt,’ Elva Archibald and special cousins, Pat Brown (Don), Brian Archibald (Karen), Judie Weir (Winston) and best friends, Marsha and Marilyn. Her passing is sadly felt by many other family and friends. Carol was a lifetime member and dedicated sorority sister with Beta Sigma Phi for 47 years. She enjoyed time spent with her family and travelling south. She was a loving Mum, Nanner, sister and friend. A heartfelt “thank you” to the staff of the palliative unit of the Truro Hospital, on behalf of Carol and her entire family. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Visitation is Wednesday, April 25th 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Beta Sigma Phi service at 7p.m.). A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held Thursday, April 26th 2:00 p.m. at Colchester Community Funeral Home at 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating.
