Beatrice May Metlin

Metlin, Beatrice May, 91, of Truro; With heavy hearts we the family of Beatrice May Metlin announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Born in Gosport, England, she was a daughter of the late John and Daisy (Castle) Hawkins. She bravely travelled to Canada at a young age and married the love of her life, the late Lorenzo (Rennie) Metlin. Raising a large family of 11 children, she was a devoted and selfless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered dearly for her loving hugs, her determined spirit and her smile that could light up any room or heart. She is survived by sons, Raymond (Louise) Metlin, Truro, John (Mary) Metlin, Michael Metlin, Hilden, Toby (Melinda) Metlin, Truro; daughters, Kathleen (Ralph) Forbes, Truro, Linda (Keith) Metlin-Hughes, Barbara (Brian) Marriott, Bible Hill, Constance Metlin, Hilden, Betty Metlin, Onslow; brother, Anthony (Susan) Hawkins, England; sister, Anne Salmon England; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorenzo Metlin; sons, George and Anthony Metlin; grandsons, Raymond Metlin, Kirk Lorenzo DeBay; great-grandson, Nicholas Lorenzo Forbes; sisters, Patricia Morris, Pamela Worth; son-in-law, Fontaine Hughes. Visitation was held Friday, November 9, 12 – 1 pm, immediately followed by funeral service at 1pm, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiated , all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Private family interment was held in the Hilden Cemetery, Hilden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beatrice’s memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses.
