McCALLUM, Audrey Beatrice Audrey Beatrice McCallum, Bible Hill, aged 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her children in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on October 11, 2019. The daughter of the late Arnold Archibald Crowe and Janetta Marie Crowe (Lynds), she was born in Bible Hill on October 15, 1925. As the eldest child, she took on extra responsibilities, helping care for her siblings after the early death of her mother. She attended school in Truro followed by Normal College and later received a BA from Mount Allison. During her long teaching career, she enjoyed every student and continued to take an interest in them all her life. She took pride in her gardens on Vimy Road and was an active member of the Bible Hill Garden Club. After retiring, researching genealogy and volunteering at the museum were big parts of her life. She belonged to the University Women’s Club and spent many hours working at their annual book sale. Her love of travelling led to many trips throughout North America, Europe and Africa, taking off at age 80, on a safari. She took a keen interest in the world and was not shy about giving her opinion on a wide variety of matters. After the death of her husband Leo, her six kids were her life. She was an amazing mother and we were so blessed to have her in our lives. She is survived by her beloved children, Colleen (Chuck) Poulain, Stellarton, Kim (Bonnie Waddell), Upper Onslow, Terry (Joan), Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Shelley, Central Onslow, Robin (Jane) Barrie, Ontario, Andrea (Rick) Osmond, Lower Sackville; sister, Janetta (Chris) Kowalski, White Rock, BC, as well as 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Leo; sister, Barbara, and brothers, Keith and Don. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS on Tuesday, October 15 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 2 p.m. followed by a private family burial at Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colchester Historium or Colchester East Hants Public Library Foundation.
