GLACE BAY, N.S. — GLACE BAY — The body of a missing 80-year-old man has been discovered.
The senior was reported missing Friday at approximately 4 p.m. and Staff Sgt. Kenny Routledge of the Cape Breton Regional Police Service said a military helicopter assisting with the search along the 11th Street shoreline found the body about seven hours later.
The man’s body was transported to Halifax for autopsy as police work with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.
The man's identity is not being disclosed until next of kin are notified.
The Glace Bay, Dominion, New Victoria and Sydney Mines volunteer fire departments, as well as members of the regional fire service, helped with the search.

Cape Breton Regional Police are searching for an 80-year-old man in Glace Bay.
Police say they’re searching for the man near the cliffs at the end of 11th Street after the man was reported to be heading to the area.
Concerned family members contacted police around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Officers located the man’s vehicle in the area and continue to search for the man with assistance from fire services rescue boats in the water.
The man’s name was not released.
Police are asking the public to stay away from the area as dark and unstable ground conditions pose a potential safety risk.
