TRURO, N.S. — Police had to draw a weapon when arresting a suspected impaired driver in Truro Friday.
Officers in two patrol cars arrested two males, one of whom put up a struggle, on the forecourt of the Wilsons Gas Stops on Queen and Walker Streets. The Truro Police Service was responding to a 911 call about a possible impaired driver at 4:30 p.m. on May 24.
“At one point a gun was drawn,” said a shop attendant who witnessed the scene.
A 29-year-old Truro male was arrested and charged with impaired driving, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and breaching probation. Police say the blue Honda CRV was displaying a stolen plate.
The vehicle’s passenger, a 38-year-old male from Truro, was arrested and charged for obstructing police and breach of recognizance.
Both suspects are being held for court appearances next week.
The second incident was at 6:30 p.m. on May 24, when police stopped a gold-coloured Pontiac Sunfire on McClures Mills Road for displaying an invalid license plate.
Police say a 19-year-old male driver was charged with impaired driving, illegal possession of alcohol, driving without valid insurance and driving without valid registration.
The suspect will appear in Truro Provincial Court at an unspecified later date.
