Shorty and Peggy are together again.
A group of Dalhousie University students reunited the wooden fisherman with owner Peter Richardson on Saturday evening.
Roz Brenzel, Julia Farrow, Paula Munroe, Erin O’Connor and Kennedy Whalen found Shorty at a house in Halifax. The five students brought him back to their home, where they called Richardson.
“We received a call saying he was rescued from his captors and was safe in Halifax,” said Richardson.
Shortly after, Richardson headed over to pick up his fisherman friend from the women.
“They sent the boys a pic of them with Shorty at their apartment just before we loaded him in the car,” he said.
Richardson said the university prank is “no need for any charges.”
“Being rescued by the five young ladies might have been the highlight of his life,” joked Richardson.
Shorty was to be secured to the ground Sunday morning.
But soon, he won’t be alone. Tracie Dugas, Shorty’s carver, is to create a “Mrs. Shorty, who will be able to keep an eye on him so he won’t wander off again.”
