The emergency department at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Collaborative Emergency Centre in Tatamagouche will experience some temporary closures during the next few days.

It will be closed:

Saturday, Dec. 22 from Noon-8 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 28 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 29 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 30 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.

In addition, there will be no regular primary health care office hours on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31 and Jan.1.

These closures are due to a lack of physician coverage. Patients with emergencies will be redirected to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre or the most appropriate emergency department.

The department will be open overnight (8 p.m. to 8 a.m.) with coverage provided by the paramedic, registered nurse and oversight physician team.

Those experiencing a medical emergency should always call 911. General health concerns can also be directed to HealthLink where advice and information is available around the clock by simply dialing 811. The Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.

Anyone who is unclear about the availability of services may contact the hospital at 902-657-2382.
