RCMP have two suspects in custody following an armed robbery and a crash on Highway 102.
Around 9:45 on Tuesday, July 17, two masked men, one armed with a firearm, got out of a vehicle in a business parking lot on Hammonds Plains Road, in Hammonds Plains. They approached an employee at the business, pointed a firearm at the person and demanded money. The employee gave them money and they fled in a vehicle.
The vehicle was seen by both RCMP and Halifax Regional Police officers, driving recklessly on several streets. Shortly after that, it was found in a ditch on Highwat 102, near Exit 3b. The driver was arrested at the scene. The passenger fled and was pursued by the Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit. During this time, residents were asked to stay inside their homes for safety. The suspect was tracked, and found in the backyard of a home, where he was arrested.
