police - Truro Daily News

One person is dead following a collision with a vehicle at a Transportation Department work site at Queensland on Thursday afternoon.

RCMP reported that the accident happened just past 3 p.m. on St. Margarets Bay Road.

“We are aware there’s been a fatality on one of our work sites,” Transportation Department spokeswoman Marla MacInnis said in an email. “This is a terrible tragedy.”

A spokeswoman for the Labour Department said Occupational Health and Safety officers were dispatched to the scene.

“We are co-operating fully with RCMP and labour investigators,” MacInnis said.

She added that the Transportation Department could not comment further because the fatal collision is under investigation.

St. Margarets Bay Road was expected to be closed for several hours and traffic was being rerouted to Conrads Road.
