Vandals strike church in Watt Section

Police are investigating after a fire was set inside a church in Watt Section.

On Dec. 1, Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter at a church on the St. Andrews Loop. A member of the congregation arrived to decorate for Christmas and discovered the front door had been forced open and the church smelled like smoke. Hymn books and altar items, including a prayer stand, had been set on fire, but the fire appeared to have extinguished itself. There was only a small amount of damage to the church, which was built in the 1800's. It's believed this incident took place between November 12 and December 4.
