A break and enter, and theft, took place at the Hope for Wildlife centre, in Seaforth sometime between 8:30 p.m. on March 1 and 8:30 a.m. on March 2.
Thieves forced their way through a locked door and stole cash from a donation box. Failing to show any regard for wildlife in the building, thieves left the door open.
In a Facebook post, Hope for Wildlife stated that, although several cold sensitive animals had been housed in the building, none were harmed.
The centre reported that about $1,500 in damage was caused, and approximately $1,000 was stolen.
Surveillance camera footage has been given to police.
