Three people found living in a car with illegally stored firearms

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

Three people were arrested and charged with weapons offences after a disturbance outside a shopping centre Tuesday.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, Charlottetown Police Services responded to disturbance in the Walmart parking lot.

They found a man and woman arguing near the car they were living in, along one other person.

In the course of the investigation, police located several knives, one pair of brass knuckles and one hand gun. The weapons were not used in the confrontation.

Three individuals, a 22-year-old Charlottetown woman, a 25-year-old Charlottetown man and a 15-year-old Tyne Valley boy were arrested at the scene.

The car was impounded by police.

All three have been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a prohibited weapon - brass knuckles.  

The three accused individuals were brought to a remand hearing late Tuesday and were released with conditions.

All will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Child and Family Services were advised there is a 15-year-old youth involved in this case.
