SYDNEY, N.S. — A Leitches Creek couple is to return to provincial court next month to enter a plea on a charge filed in connection with the death of a 17-year-old Northside male.
Kenneth Raymond Wilkie, 52, and Donna Lorraine Wilkie, 49, are each charged with permitting drunkenness on their property.
The offence is alleged to have occurred June 10 in Leitches Creek.
The Wilkies were hosting a high school graduation party on their property that reportedly attracted over 500 people.
Among the attendees was Nathan Joneil Hanna who died after being struck by a vehicle along Highway 223 in Leitches Creek.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Bras d'Or man, Hayden Kenneth Laffin, has been charged with obstruction of justice. Laffin was also at the party.
After a brief court appearance Tuesday, the Wilkies case was adjourned until Oct. 16.
One issue that is expected to be raised during the next court appearance will be whether the pair can be charged jointly as opposed to separately.
