Yarmouth Mounties didn’t have far to look when they responded to a call Wednesday night about a drunk driver.

The driver hit a pole on Argyle Street at about 10:25 p.m. and fled the scene.

“An RCMP police dog and handler were called to search for the driver,” said a police news release. “They located her approximately 200 metres from the collision scene and she was arrested. She was showing signs of impairment by alcohol and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.”

The 29-year-old Yarmouth woman refused a demand for blood samples. She is facing charges of impaired driving and refusing the breathalyzer.

The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth provincial court July 8.
