WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Chantal Peng has a new title to add to her resume – Queen Annapolisa.
Peng, the Town of Wolfville’s leadership candidate, was crowned Queen Annapolisa LXXXVII at the coronation ceremony for the 87th annual Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival May 31.
“I am so grateful to all of the supporters of the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival,” said Peng, briefly addressing a crowd in the Queen Annapolisa garments for the first time.
A poised and accomplished public speaker, she is the daughter of Jianan and Gwen Peng.
The 19-year-old Horton High grad received the Lieutenant Governor Education Award. She loves to play the piano, and she is enrolled in the music program at Acadia University.
Her musical talents have landed her an invite to perform at Carnegie Hall, and the top prize at a Canadian Music Competition.
In between school, music and volunteer work in the community, Peng enjoys trail walks and reading.
Ten leadership candidates, flanked by bright-eyed child attendants, were vying for the Queen Annapolisa sash as the coronation evening unfolded in Acadia University’s Convocation Hall: Zeynep Tonak (Annapolis Royal), Madison Perry (Berwick), Kallie Allen (Coldbrook), Taylor Wood (Digby), Rachel Coldwell (Hantsport), Miriam Brathwaite (Kentville), Katelyn Charlton (Kingston), Emily Guptill (New Minas), and Jessica Patenaude (Windsor).
Wood is the first lady-in-waiting and Tonak was named the second lady-in-waiting.
