YARMOUTH, N.S. — An RCMP investigation is underway after a deceased individual was found in the parking lot of the Midtown Motel in Yarmouth Monday morning, Jan. 6.
"The death near the Midtown Motel is not being considered suspicious," RCMP Corporal Jennifer Clarke said Monday afternoon.
The person who had been discovered was an elderly man.
There had been no details from the RCMP available Monday morning on the cause of death as the investigation into the matter was still in its early stages. Monday afternoon the RCMP said an autopsy will be conducted to determine a cause of death.
The RCMP were on the scene Monday morning carrying out their investigation. RCMP cruisers and a fire truck from the Yarmouth Fire Department were parked in front of the property, which was cordoned off with police tape.
Earlier in the morning, around 8:15 a.m., two ambulances had been on the scene. The RCMP were not on the scene at that time.
The property where the body was discovered serves as a motel and also has a section allotted for boarding. (An earlier reference about the status of the property was incorrect.)
