SYDNEY, N.S. — A Sydney man charged with two counts of arson has been released on conditions.

Pasmay Jerome Paul, 32, is charged with two counts of arson (one relating to disregard for human life and the other damage to property), two counts of mischief, three counts of uttering threats and causing a disturbance.

He was charged after an incident Jan. 14 during which he is alleged to have flooded his apartment and later set fire to the premises.

No injuries were reported relating to other residents of the building.

Among the conditions of his release, Paul is to live at the community shelter on Townsend Street, stay away from his former apartment, refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed to him, and abide by a curfew.

Paul is to return to court Feb. 18 to enter pleas.
