DIGBY, N.S. — The Digby County RCMP is asking the public for information that may help identify human remains found on a beach in September.

On Sept. 8, shortly after 9 a.m., a body was found on the beach in Sandy Cove in Digby County. The RCMP worked with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the remains have been identified as male.

The RCMP has released photos of the man's clothing with the hope that someone may recognize them, which could help to identify the person whose remains were found. Pants the man was wearing were a denim bootcut. The brand was Urban Heritage. Waist: 36, Length 34. He was also wearing a pair of leather, black and yellow high cut workboots that are the "Terra" brand.

“The circumstances that led to the man's death have yet been determined and the case has been recently added to Canada's Missing website,” the RCMP said in a Jan. 6 media release. “The investigation is ongoing.”

On that website the RCMP have posted information that reads: “On Sept. 8, 2019, a witness reported to the Digby RCMP that human remains had been discovered on the Sandy Cove Beach in Nova Scotia. It appears that the remains had washed up on shore. An autopsy indicated that the remains might have been those of a middle-aged man.”

The man’s age is estimated to be between 30 and 60.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Digby County RCMP at 902-245-2579. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.
