TRURO, N.S. — Nova Scotia Music Week kicked off Friday evening with a show from Emerge by Youth Art Connection.
This collective includes R'n'B and hip-hop/rap acts. Wavelord warmed up the crowd with his rhymes, after Lyris Daye sang some soulful melodies at Great British Grub. It was a great way for music fans to wait out the Friday night snowstorm.
Later, acts such as Voodoo Sometimes and Designosaur offered an edgier funk and punk rhythm to NSMW. Gabrielle Papillon and Laura Merrimen added their own infusion of folk, country and blues to the festival.
