BIBLE HILL, N.S. — Property taxes will not increase for 2019-2020 in Bible Hill.

This marks the third consecutive year the residential rate will remain at $0.70, limited-service residential tax rate at $0.525, and commercial tax rate at $0.87 per $100 of assessment.

Without using debt, the budget is set to invest $3,571,250 in service delivery and capital infrastructure investments in Bible Hill during the coming year. Overall property assessment is expected to increase 3% to $282,804.

The largest capital project involves the construction of about 750 metres of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter and new water main on Pictou Road in the area of Main Street and Vimy Road.

Other projects include installing an elevator at the village/fire hall, improvements to the fire station and fire-fighting equipment, baseball field dugouts and playground equipment improvements at Bible Hill Recreation Park, and monument refacing at Holy Well Park.

There are also plans to upgrade existing, and add new, actuated crosswalk lighting at six locations, including at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus and Jennifer Drive at Pictou Road.

The village budget also includes funding for community identification, which includes new signage a seasonal banners on poles.
