TRURO, N.S. — People in Truro will join others from across Atlantic Canada in a sponsored walk against multiple sclerosis Sunday.
Organizers expect roughly 2,000 people to join walks in 14 different communities, either as individuals or in teams. Money raised will go towards researching new therapies and treatments.
According to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, roughly 7,000 Atlantic Canadians live with this illness. Canada as a whole has one of the highest MS rates in the world. May is marked as MS Awareness month.
This year’s MS Walk starts at 11 a.m. on May 26 from the Douglas Street Recreation Centre on 40 Douglas Street. All MS Walk events feature a wheelchair accessible route. To learn more about the event or MS, visit www.mssociety.ca.
