BELMONT, N.S. - A 60-year-old man was killed in a hunting accident in Belmont on Monday evening.
RCMP report that the victim and a 41-year-old man were hunting in an area near Rifle Range Road on Nov. 19. They became separated while following a deer, and when the younger man shot at what he thought was the deer, the 60-year-old was hit.
Police and paramedics went to the scene, but were not able to revive the man.
RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Colchester District RCMP assisted at the scene, and the incident is being investigated by the RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit.
