A Kings County man has been charged after he was pulled over and registered breathalyzer readings four times the legal limit.

RCMP said in a news release that police stopped a car that was being driven erratically on Highway 101 near New Minas at 7 p.m. Saturday night.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Auburn, showed signs of impairment and consented to the breathalzyer test after he was arrested, police said.

"Thankfully we do not often see impaired readings this high," Cpl. Michael Carter, of the Southwest Nova Traffic Services unit said in the release. "Removing this driver from the road greatly enhanced public safety this past weekend."

The driver was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on April 23.
