BIBLE HILL, N.S.

As a new business owner, Stephanie Barkley was shocked and discouraged to see the damage caused to vehicles on her sales lot in Bible Hill.

A man walked onto the Wallace & Barkley property, on Pictou Road, very late on Jan. 30 or very early on Jan. 31, and walked through the lot, puncturing tires and scraping the sides of cars.

“It’s a scary thing,” said Barkley. “One act caused close to $10,000 damage. I have insurance but the deductible is $5,000 per unit so I’ll just swallow the cost. That’s close to devastating.”

Surveillance footage shows a man walking onto the property, from Pictou Road.

“It’s eerie watching him walk around,” said Barkley. “He looked into the shop, then walked through the cars as if shopping. He used an X-Acto knife and punctured tires in the middle row, and keyed cars.”

This is the first time she’s had a problem at the business, which opened about a year ago. She just opened a second location, in Dartmouth.

Barkley feels it was a random act, as a few other vehicles in the same area of Bible Hill had tires slashed on the same night.

“I want justice but if I met him I would probably ask him what’s wrong,” she added. “For him to do that, I know something’s not good in his life.”

RCMP are reviewing footage and anyone with information is asked to contact them or CrimeStoppers.
