BROOKFIELD, N.S. — SHORTTS LAKE, N.S. – Just before noon on Sept. 6, Colchester RCMP responded to a call of a boating accident.

Two men had been on Shortts Lake in a canoe when it overturned and only one man resurfaced.

The RCMP was assisted by Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department with the recovery of the body of the deceased, a 58-year-old man from Truro.

Police noted personal floatation devices were in the canoe, but not in use.

The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.

RCMP has requested the assistance of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Service.
