TRURO, N.S. — Two men are facing charges following a home invasion, where a man was assaulted, at an Elm Street apartment.

Around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, three men kicked open the door of an apartment and entered.  The resident woke up when his dog began barking. The intruders told him to put the dog in another room and he did so.

He told police that the men then punched him, hit him with the butt of a knife several times and sprayed him with bear spray.

He had bruising, swelling and cuts as a result of the attack and was taken to hospital to be treated.

Two of the men were wearing masks when they entered the apartment, but took them off after a short peiod of time.

Jason Syliboy, 47, and Alexander (Sandy) Borden, 29, are charged with assault with a weapon. Syliboy is also charged with uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order. They are scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court this morning.

The third suspect has not been identified but the victim knew him as “Moe.”
