Truro woman arrested after robbing local grocery store

TRURO – A 24-year-old Truro woman is facing a robbery and theft charge after an incident Sunday night at Sobeys on Prince Street.

Shaunticy Nicole Smith is also charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of breaching a probation order – one for possessing a weapon and one for failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

Truro Police Service Insp. Rob Hearn said the loss prevention officer tried to make an arrest for the theft when the accused pulled a knife.

“She cut the LPO on his face, but no medical attention was required,” he said.

The accused was in police custody and scheduled to appear in provincial court Monday afternoon for a show cause hearing.
