Bow and crossbow hunting will be permitted in the Truro watershed area again this year.
Council voted, 4-1, on a motion to approve opening a designated area of the watershed as part of 2019 regular bow and crossbow season. Councillor Wayne Talbot voted against the motion, stating that information indicates the deer in the watershed are a separate group, and hunting in the watershed doesn’t reduce the numbers in town.
Bow hunting first opened in the watershed in 2018, when two deer were killed. The numbers are based on the response of 37 of the 54 hunters who registered for the hunt.
