Meadowville, N.S. - A 48-year-old Tatamagouche man was killed at an accident on a private motocross track in Pictou County Sunday afternoon.

Pictou District RCMP were called to a track near Black River Road, in Meadowville, at 2:46 p.m. on Oct. 21.

It appeared that a man riding a dirtbike failed to negotiate a jump on the track. EHS and volunteer firefighters provided assistance, but the man died at the scene.

Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. According to Wikipedia, the sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom.
