TRURO, N.S. — Voices will ring through the darkness when the Take Back the Night walk in held.
The event, which is part of an effort to end sexual violence, is being held at Riverfront Park at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Native dancers will open the event and Vida Woodworth will be the guest speaker. Woodworth will talk about the roles she played to bring awareness to sexual violence and to make homes and communities safer.
People are also invited to join in a walk from the park, through the downtown area, and back to the park.
“Make a sign or bring a sign from another year, and come and show support,” said Tracey Dorrington-Skinner, executive director of The Lotus Centre, the agency organizing the event. “Come and understand the need for safe spaces.”
