The awards were chosen by the Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce. There are four categories of winners and two honourable mentions. The awards are New Small Business of the Year, Business Achievement, Small Business Innovation and Small Business Export Achievement.
The small business recipient is Wink Day Spa on Inglis Place and the Small Business Achievement honours have been handed to Wilson Equipment of East Mountain.
The chamber named East Coast Dental Clinic on Willow Street as Business Innovator of the Year, while the export achievement award will go to Sara Bonnyman Pottery of Tatamagouche.
Honourable mentions go to Nook and Cranny Pub on Prince Street and Meech Holdings of Truro, based on their dedication to local suppliers and positive community impact.
The awards will be handed out at this year’s Small Business Week annual luncheon, which will take place at the Best Western Glengarry on Oct. 23 at noon.
“I want to congratulate the recipients of these business awards and special honours for their hard work and dedication to making Truro-Colchester grow,” said chamber president Stephanie Jones in a news release.
“The judging panel was astounded by the high quality of local business nominees and sees it as a sign of good things to come.”
