Probation for failing to secure firearms

TRURO, N.S. – A Colchester County man who pled guilty to unlawful storage of 15 firearms was given a suspended sentence and placed on probation for 12 months.

Phillip John Morrisey of Highway 289 Cross Roads (near Upper Stewiacke), is also prohibited from possessing firearms for five years.

Court records indicate that the firearms were not secured with trigger locking devices.

Morrisey’s probation conditions include not possessing or consuming/using alcohol or illicit drugs, staying away from establishments were alcohol is sold as a primary product of business and taking counselling for alcohol consumption and mental health issues.
