Oxford man arrested following stabbing incident

RCMP has confirmed that a flagsman has died as a result of being struck on Route 80, between Heart's Content and Old Perlican, today.
An Oxford man has been charged with attempted murder and forcible confinement following a stabbing incident in the community on Thursday night.

OXFORD – A 41-year-old Oxford man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident at an Oxford home on Thursday night.

Ritchie John Leslie Pye is also facing a charge of forcible confinement.

RCMP responded to the incident at approximately 9 p.m. and found a man suffering from stab wounds and other injuries. The victim, a 58-year-old man, said he’d been assaulted with a hammer and a knife, which were found during a police search of the home.

The victim was taken to hospital.

Pye had fled from the scene but was picked up at his residence and made a brief court appearance in Amherst on Friday.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
