MASSTOWN, N.S. — If you come across a blanket in the woods, please leave it be. It could be a message for Annie.

Since the boxer went missing from her Masstown home on Dec. 23, her family has been searching for her, and have left blankets that smell of home in some areas.

“We’ve been in the woods around here, and after a couple of people thought they might have seen her in the Salmon River area, went and searched there,” said April White. “We’ve spent hours searching woods, and asked people to check barns, sheds and traps.”

White’s parents own Lola, Annie’s litter mate, and the two dogs were playing outdoors on the afternoon of Dec. 23. When they were called, only Lola came running.

“I walked around and called, and then drove around, but there was no sign of her,” said White. “I called animal control, the SPCA and vets, and notified the Lost Dog Network."

“Her information has been shared a lot and people have been watching for her, which we really appreciate. Mike Chapman, who specializes in finding lost animals, has shared helpful information, and if we have a definite sighting he’s willing to come and help find Annie.”

She’s considered the possibility the dog was stolen. If that's the case, she hopes the publicity around her disappearance will prompt whoever has her to leave her in a safe spot.

“She’s definitely part of our family,” she said. “She waits for the kids to get off the bus and she plays soccer with them. She’s such a gentle dog; my three-year-old crawls over her and dresses her, and she sleeps with my five-year-old. She’s been a big part of life for all of us. She’s a high-energy dog and we’re a busy, active family so she fits well.”

Annie is one-and-a -alf, has a long tail and was wearing a black and pink collar with tags when she went missing.

She’s a very friendly dog, but after being away from home for so long may spook easily, so anyone who sees her is asked not to try to catch her but call her family on 902-890-5925.
