TRURO, N.S.

An RCMP investigation is underway into a shooting incident at a residence on Onslow Mountain Road which saw one man being transported to hospital in Halifax by LifeFlight.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

RCMP Public Information officer Jennifer Clarke the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Dec. 12 when several shots were fired at the undisclosed residence.

“The initial investigation has indicated that several other shots were fired,” Clarke said, in a news release. “A vehicle was damaged by gun shots as well.”

A woman and another man who were present in the home were not injured.

Clarke said investigators have determined that the suspect(s) parked a vehicle on the road near the home, approached on foot, then left the area in the vehicle.

“Initial indications are leading police to believe this was not a random act,” she said.

Clarke said she could not disclose whether the man was resident or a visitor at the home.

The investigation is being led by the RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit with additional assistance from the RCMP’s Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services.

The RCMP is asking anyone who saw a vehicle parked in the 1500 area of Onslow Mountain Rd. near 10 p.m. on Wednesday evening to call them at 1-800-803-RCMP (7267).
