Hilden, N.S. – RCMP are warning people to be extremely cautious about sending money after $15,000 was taken from a Hilden woman.

A 20-year-old man in Brampton, Ontario was arrested on June 21 and some of the woman’s money has been recovered.
Between June 10 and 19, the woman received telephone calls from a man who told her he was working with a bank and the RCMP and wanted her help to catch employees who were stealing from the bank.

When she became suspicious, he told her to hang up and call the number on the back of her debit card. When she did so, he answered the phone.

He convinced her to send three packages containing cash, by courier, to three addresses in the Brampton area.

Colchester RCMP worked with Peel Regional Police to track down the suspect.
