TRURO - Two Colchester County teens have been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to a number of charges, including possession of stolen property.

Matthew Michael Phillips, 18, of 24 Fern Dr., Millbrook was sentenced to eight months in jail after pleading guilty to offences that occurred earlier this week in Bible Hill.

His co-accused, Tyler Anthony George, 18, of 31 Village Ct., Apt. 19, Bible Hill, was sentenced to a total of seven months in jail. His sentence also included a guilty plea to stealing a debit card, for which he has been ordered to pay restitution of $2,630.15.

George also pled guilty to defrauding the Giant Tiger of $103 by attempting to return items for cash that he had not paid for.

The pair must each serve 12 months probation following their release and George is banned from holding any job or position in which he could have access to a credit card or other banking information.

They were arrested on Wednesday after the Colchester RCMP and the Colchester Integrated Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Village Court residence, where a number of items stolen from vehicles around the Bible Hill area were recovered.

Police said their investigation revealed that almost all of the thefts occurred from unlocked vehicles.
