Local rugby players nab gold in PEI

Truro rugby was well represented at the Eastern Canadian championships in PEI during the weekend as Nova Scotia Keltics squads swept gold medals in all four age categories they competed in.

The women's senior squad was first to the podium with a 15-0 win over Newfoundland and Labrador, before the under-18 boys downed New Brunswick 14-5. On Sunday afternoon, the under-20 girls knocked off the host Island team, 34-0, and the under-18s survived a last second goal-line scramble to beat Eastern Ontario 7-3.
