The 31st annual Export Achievement Awards will take place on May 21 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax. Nine businesses from across the province, including Tatamagouche's Sara Bonnyman Pottery, will be recognized and one will receive the Exporter of the Year award.

"The One Nova Scotia Commission identified increasing the value of our exports by 50 per cent as key to building a better economic future, and the efforts of these nominees are helping Nova Scotia achieve that important goal," said Mark Furey, minister of business, in a news release.

Nominees for exporter of the year include Bonnyman; Acadian Seaplants, Cornwallis, Annapolis County; Big 8 Beverages, Stellarton; Premium Seafood Group, Arichat, Richmond County; Advanced Glazings Ltd., Sydney; Randsland Farms Inc., Canning, Kings County; Wedgeport Lobsters, Yarmouth; Blue Ocean, Halifax; and Van Dyk's, Caledonia, Queens County.

This year's keynote speaker is Julia Rivard, senior partner at Norex. Companies are also invited to participate in export information sessions.
